NEW recruit Jack Colback, signed on loan from Sunderland on Friday afternoon, until January, was not ready to feature in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Coventry.

But Colback, who was the players’ player-of-the-year during his season-long loan spell with Town last term, is set to start at Watford tomorrow evening.

“I’m glad to get Jack,” explained Keane.

“We were never in a mad rush for Saturday because Jack had a few things to sort out, and he also had one or two other options, so he only arrived this morning.

“I think it helped that he played with us last year, and did well.

“Jack had things to weigh up, but I was always quietly confident that he’d come here. He’ll come into the squad on Tuesday.”

Keane is set make changes for the visit to Vicarage Road, not least because left-back Mark Kennedy picked up a hamstring injury during the closing minutes against Coventry. He was limping at the final whistle.

“Sparky (Kennedy) has picked up an injury,” confirmed Keane.

“But I’m pleased to have Jack (Colback) in the door. He can play in a number of positions for us.

“It won’t necessarily be about him attacking on Tuesday, because he can play at left-back or in the middle of the park, as well as on the left side and even on the right.

“But we will probably still need one more,” added Keane, with reference to his wish for one other loan signing.
