Connor Wickham will not be returning to Portman Road later this month after he was left out of the England Under 21 squad for the European Championship qualifiers.

It had been expected that striker Wickham, 20, would return to the ground he graced as a teenager for the Blues when England face Lithuania at Portman Road on October 15.

But he was left out by boss Gareth Southgate when he announced his squad this afternoon.

Southgate’s side travel to San Marino for a match on Thursday October 10 before facing Lithuania at Portman Road five days later.
