THE future of Ipswich Town’s out-of-contract players will be resolved at the start of next week, as soon as this season has ended.
Manager Paul Jewell revealed that he will be speaking to keeper Brian Murphy later today, with regards the Irishman’s decision on the offer of a new deal.
Midfielder Colin Healy and keeper Arran Lee-Barrett are still mulling over their offers, while the experienced out-of-contract duo of David Norris and Gareth McAuley could both be on their way this summer.
“The ball is in the players’ courts, and whatever decisions they make I will fully respect,” explained Jewell at this morning’s press conference.
“They have been terrific pros since I’ve been, and it’s been a pleasure to work with them.”
McAuley faces a battle to be fit following a groin injury, for Saturday’s trip to Leicester, while skipper Norris could well be making his last appearance for Town at the Walkers Stadium.
If Murphy agrees his new deal, then there is a chance he could play in goal against the Foxes.
