Cover on at Portman Road - but game goes ahead

IPSWICH Town’s televised match against Swansea City is still on - as a host of other Championship matches fall victim of the weather.

The club this afternoon confirmed that the Portman Road pitch remained covered while ground staff worked hard to clear snow from other parts of the stadium after yesterday’s heavy downfall.

But there currently seems little danger of the match, which is being shown on SKY (kick off 12.45pm), being called off despite the plummeting temperatures.

Already, the Championship games at Doncaster, Hull, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth and Sheffield United have all been postponed along with a number of League One, League Two and non-league games across the country.
