GEORGE McLuckie, who played in every game when the Blues won the Division Three South championship in 1953/54, has died aged 79.

This was under the management of Scott Duncan and he went on to win another Division Three South winner’s medal in 1956/57 by which time Alf Ramsey had taken over at Portman Road.

The winger played 152 games for Ipswich and scored 25 goals before moving on to Reading. He ended his career playing for Needham Market.

He lived in Stowmarket and died after a short illness leaving a widow Joan and two sons and a daughter.
