KEIRON Dyer has revealed that he had been getting ‘itchy feet’ over a return to boyhood club Ipswich Town for some time.

Speaking after his one-month loan move from West Ham was confirmed today, Dyer said: “I’ve been getting itchy feet about coming back here over the last year or two and this is the perfect opportunity.”

Town boss Paul Jewell described Dyer as a “wonderful player” following the 32-year-old arrival in time for tomorrow’s game at Leed United.

“We’re delighted to have Kieron here,” said Jewell. “He’s a wonderful player and will add Premier League quality and experience to the squad.

“He’s had his injury problems but he is fit and ready to go, although we will have to look to ease him back into things.

“I’m sure the supporters will be pleased to see Kieron back at the club, and hopefully he can make the same impact here as Jimmy (Bullard).”

Dyer’s loan keeps him at Portman Road until April 9, but Jewell has not ruled out the ex-England midfielder staying longer.

He said: “We are short on numbers and had to get someone in. We’re obviously delighted it’s Kieron and he’s here for 28 days. We will see how it goes from there.”
