CHARLIE Woods, a long-term Ipswich Town employee, was feeling well over par this week following the birth of golf legend Tiger Woods' second child.

No mean exponent of the 18-hole game, the advisor to manager Jim Magilton and assistant scout, is delighted with the name that the American star has given to his son.

“He has called him Charlie,” smiled the former Town player and coach, who has also had spells working for Tottenham and Newcastle United.

“Tiger obviously knows a good golfer, and my name will live on in the golfing world.”

Currently off the fairways while he waits for knee operation, Charlie is a former county golfer and a long-term member at Woodbridge Golf Club.

Tiger and his wife Elin, have named their son Charlie Axel, and he is a brother for daughter Sam Alexis, who was born in June 2007.

The world number one has not played since winning last year's US Open because of knee surgery, but is expected to return before the US Masters in April, possibly as early as the Accenture Match Play Championship on February 25.
