Former Ipswich Town hero Ian Marshall hosted a hugely successful open football session on October 30, with over 25 youngsters in attendance.

The event was aimed at giving school leavers or anyone aged 16–18 an insight in to what his football academy, based at Gresham’s Sports and Social Club, will offer learners from September 2016.

The academy in partnership with PTC Education will be offering learners the chance to complete a BTEC level 3 Sports qualification. Along with this educational offer, the learners will also receive over 10 hours football coaching per week from Marshall and another former Blues icon, Jason Dozzell.

Marshall who scored 32 goals in 84 appearances for Ipswich said “It was fantastic to see youngsters coming along and looking at what our academy can offer them.

“We want youngsters to achieve both physically and academically and we can offer them both. The progression routes after completing a qualification with us are fantastic, we have links in the USA, options to go to university or even apprenticeship opportunities. I would urge any youngster in Ipswich to look at our programme.”

The course starting in September 2016 is fully funded for anyone aged 16–18.
