Ipswich Town’s dreams of reaching the Premier League this season have come to an end.
The ten-man Blues were beaten 3-1 at Carrow Road by East Anglian rivals Norwich City, 4-2 on aggregate, on Saturday afternoon.
Wes Hoolahan opened the scoring for the Canaries from the spot after Christophe Berra was dismissed for handling Nathan Redmond’s shot on the goalline.
However, against the odds, Tommy Smith equalised for the Blues from close range, the New Zealand international getting a touch on Daryl Murphy’s flick on.
Norwich were soon back in the lead when Redmond fired home under Bartosz Bialkowski after the keeper have saved Marcus Olsson’s original effort, before Cameron Jerome finished with aplomb late on as Town went chasing the game.
