Only wins will do for Ipswich Town at this stage of the season and tenacious midfielder Luke Hyam believes the Blues can finish with a fab four.

Outside the top-six on goal difference, courtesy of Reading’s 1-1 draw at home to Leicester on Monday, Ipswich have a quartet of tough games remaining with Watford, at Vicarage Road, on Saturday, being followed by the visit of fellow play-off hopefuls Bournemouth to Portman Road on Monday.

The Blues then travel to second-top Burnley, before finishing the season with a home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

A total of 12 points is up for grabs which would leave the Blues on 76, three above the average tally accrued by the team finishing sixth over the last 10 years.

Speaking at a Junior Blues fun day at Namco Funscape yesterday, a buoyant Hyam exclaimed: “All the players are high on confidence and we have the belief that we can score at any time and win every game.

“We are on a good run at the moment and we hope that continues.

“Every player wants to be involved in the play-offs and all the lads are pulling in the same direction which is great.

“We beat Doncaster at the weekend with a late winner and there is no better feeling than grabbing a last-gasp goal. That showed what team spirit and determination the boys have.”

Meanwhile, Hyam has rejected claims by Doncaster manager Paul Dickov that he should have been sent-off in the Blues’ 2-1 victory at Portman Road.

Hyam caught Gabriel Tamas with a late challenge but referee Graham Scott played on and seconds later, Luke Chambers scored the winner.

“I hold my hands up. I thought it was a foul and I thought the ref was going to blow his whistle,” said the 22-year-old.

“To say it was a red card offence, I think that is taking it a bit too far.

“It doesn’t really bother me though. We got the win and that was the main thing.”
