Having quickly become a fans’ favourite with the Portman Road faithful, Guirane N’Daw is making a similar impression on his team-mates.

The on-loan St Etienne midfielder produced another typically whole-hearted display during the 3-0 victory over Millwall on Saturday.

The Senegalese schemer, who has 39 international caps to his name, also showed no shortage of skill either, producing several long-range passes to get his team on the front foot.

While his English may still not be the best, N’Daw showed again on Saturday that he certainly understands the language of football, much to the delight of Murphy.

“I think he just has to work on his shooting a little bit but other than that he is brilliant,” joked Murphy.

“He is a very good player and what you see is what you get with Guirane.

“He is hard-tackling, runs everywhere and gives you everything.”

N’Daw is enjoying his second campaign in England following a similar loan spell at Birmingham last season.

After an indifferent start, in which he lost his place under former manager Paul Jewell, N’Daw is playing a pivotal role on the pitch and is being helped along off it by another French-speaking team-mate.

“His English is not bad and obviously there are a few French lads here that he talks to,” added Murphy.

“Bilel (Mohsni) is quite good at English so he listens to him a bit and he’s getting there.”
