HARRY Redknapp has given the go ahead for David Nugent to join Ipswich Town but wants a loan fee for the striker.

The Pompey manager is happy to allow the one-time England striker to come to Portman Road but not until he has recovered from an abductor strain and only if the player wants to come to East Anglia.

Redknapp said: “Ipswich have made an approach for David and would pay a loan fee. It seems a good arrangement and if helps Ipswich then good for him and good for Ipswich but it is up to the lad, no one is pushing him out.”

Blues boss Jim Magilton is ready to wait a few days for the former Preston striker and take him on a 93-day loan spell which would take in the plays offs, including the final on May 24.
