Fresh from signing a new, four-year, deal, Freddie Sears gave the hosts the lead with a neat finish from a Brett Pitman cross, before David McGoldrick headed home the second five minutes later.
The three points took the Blues top of the Championship, for now, heading into Saturday’s game away at Preston.
