PABLO Counago, David Norris and Jon Stead all scored to get Roy Keane's reign at Ipswich Town off to a winning start this weekend.

The Blues beat promotion-hopefuls Cardiff 3-0 in Wales, after Richard Wright saved a penalty when the sides were locked at 0-0.

Keane said: “You want to win games of football and credit to the players

“It is a good start but as delighted as I am with the players it is only the beginning. I had a good feeling with the players this morning and they seem a decent bunch of lads.

“Sometimes it is difficult when a new manger comes in, especially with just two games to go where people on the outside say there is nothing to play for but for me there is always something to play for and the players showed that.

“They responded well and it is a nice feeling to win a football match. We want finish the season well and that means back to back wins next weekend.

“That is why I came back into football - to win.”
