Moore is in demand in League One, having scored 13 goals in the first half of the campaign while on loan at Rotherham, with Millers boss Paul Warne particularly keen to bring the striker back to the club.

The Rotherham manager says his side have made a club record offer for Moore, but Fry has now claimed the Posh are in the running.

“We have had a bid for Kieffer Moore accepted by Ipswich,” Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph, as part of a report which suggests bidding for the striker would begin at an initial £250,000.

“But there are a lot of add ons attached which our chairman might not fancy. “We believe Moore playing alongside Jack Marriott with Marcus Maddison supplying the crosses would be formidable in League One.

“Moore has done well for Rotherham this season and obviously they also want him so we will have to wait and see.”

While the Blues have accepted the bid from Posh, it is understood Ipswich have come back with a suggested payment structure for the overall fee, which the two clubs are currently negotiating.

Any move for Moore would pair him with another former Ipswich striker, Jack Marriott, who has scored 17 goals to lead the League One scoring charts this season. Moore is second while Brett Pitman, who left Portman Road in the summer for Portsmouth, is level with him on 13.

He has been recalled from his loan at the New York Stadium but was not involved at Fulham last night and is not eligible to play in the FA Cup.

When asked about Moore’s situation after the Blues’ defeat at Fulham last night, boss Mick McCarthy said: “There is always going to be talk – I can’t tell you anything.”

Asked if playing Moore would mean Town could only sell him to Rotherham this month because of the rule which states you can only play for two clubs in a season, McCarthy replied: “That’s correct. He can’t play in the Cup anyway, so that gives us a bit of thinking room, I guess.”
