Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy remains unsure when he will be able to call on the services of injured midfielder Tom Adeyemi.

The summer signing has played just five games for the Blues since arriving from Cardiff, with a hamstring injury keeping him sidelined since the defeat by Norwich in October.

McCarthy had hoped to have the midfielder back for the game with Nottingham Forest on December 2, but his injury problems have rumbled on with the Town boss revealing today that the 26-year-old had also suffered a calf issue.

“I’ve no idea, I don’t know,” McCarthy said, when asked if there was any news on Adeyemi’s injury.

“There’s no point me even talking about it because he will be there when he’s there.

“He’s had a hamstring, a bit of a calf strain.

“I’ve got more problems with the ones who are going to be fit and playing so Tom will have to forgive me but it’s not my priority, that.”

Adeyemi is just one of a number of midfield players to have faced long spells on the sidelines this season. Emyr Huws, Teddy Bishop and Andre Dozzell will all miss the rest of the campaign, while Luke Hyam has just returned from injury trouble of his own.

Cole Skuse has been dealing with ankle trouble since the victory over Reading on December 16, but McCarthy is hopeful the worst is now behind his midfield lynchpin.

“Skusey’s a lot better because his ankle was really swollen,” McCarthy said.

On Hyam, who made his first start in 19 months against Sheffield United last Saturday, McCarthy said: “He’s been great, we’re really, really pleased for him.

“He’s one of the homegrown players and has been really good for us whenever he’s played. I thought he looked really well last week considering he’d been out for 19 months. He actually gave me a look when I took him off after 60 minutes.”
