Mick McCarthy revealed his happiness for Tyrone Mings after the young left-back completed a multi-million pound move to Premier League new-boys Bournemouth – a deal which proved beneficial to all parties, according to the Blues’ boss.

Mings, who emerged as one of the Championship’s star performers last season, followed fellow left-back Aaron Cresswell’s lead in making the move to the Premier League after making his name at Portman Road.

In return, Town manager McCarthy was able to snap up both striker Brett Pitman (permanent deal) and winger Scott Fraser (season-long loan) – two players that helped the Cherries reach the Promised Land last month.

“I spoke to Tyrone and his dad (Adi) separately and they were both delighted with everything that has gone and thanked myself and Terry Connor profusely for the help we had given him,” said McCarthy.

“It’s a good deal for him but likewise, for us, as he has been great as well.

“He deserves to play in the Premier League, it would have been lovely had it been with us of course, but it’s not.

“Good luck to him, but we have got two players in and a few quid that we might be able to spend elsewhere.”
