Ipswich Town defender Frederic Veseli has today joined League One outfit Port Vale on a half-season loan, subject to paperwork.

Versatile Veseli, who can operate at full-back and in defensive midfield, makes the switch to Vale Park until the January transfer window at least - where his first-team chances are likely to be greater.

The 21-year-old, who started his professional career at Manchester City before making the switch across Manchester to United in 2012, has found opportunities hard to come by under Blues boss Mick McCarthy who snapped up the defender on a free last summer following his release from Old Trafford.

After appearing for Town in the forgettable 2-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Stevenage in August, Veseli joined League Two side Bury on a similar-length loan deal last season, helping the Shakers climb from the depths of relegation to the safety berths of mid-table.

The youngster will hope for a similarly enjoyable period at Port Vale, who finished in a creditable ninth position last term.
