Ipswich Town fans seem keen on the idea of Darren Bent re-joining the club.
The striker came through the Blues youth system, made his debut aged 17 and scored 55 times during the entertaining Joe Royle years of the early 2000s.
Bent went on to make several big-money moves, playing for Charlton, Tottenham, Sunderland, Aston Villa in the Premier League, and earned 33 caps for England.
He scored 13 goals in 27 starts and 15 substitute appearances for Championship club Derby County last season, but is reportedly out of new boss Gary Rowett’s plans heading into the final year of his deal.
Bent’s former Town team-mate Tommy Miller thinks the 33-year-old would be open to the idea of a return to Portman Road and so, it seems, are Blues fans.
At the time of writing, there were close to 500 votes cast in our online poll asking ‘Would you like to see Darren Bent back at Ipswich Town?’ – 76% said; ‘Yes, he’s still got it and would bring back the feelgood factor’, while 24% said; ‘No, he’s 33, we need to look to the future’.
