The fans have spoken – Mick McCarthy’s top summer priority should be signing Emyr Huws.

That’s according to a poll on the EADT and Star websites, which posed the question on Wednesday.

Of more than 600 votes, signing Huws came top of the pile, with 33% of voters saying he should be Mick’s main target this summer. Keeping in-demand stopper Bartosz Bilakowski was next, with 28%, while 23% said that McCarthy and the Blues should do everything they can to sign Leicester loanee Tom Lawrence.

Of course, he would not come cheap even if the Foxes were willing to part with him, with a probable price tag of at least £2-3m, and hefty wages to boot. Huws, on loan from Cardiff, would likely be the cheaper and more-attainable option.

11% of fans said Mick needs to commit to giving young players a chance to make the first team, while just 5% said giving captain Luke Chambers was the most important summer task.
