Ipswich Town have been linked with a summer move for Hull midfielder David Meyler, according to national reports.

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international is due to leave Hull this summer, with the Tigers opting not to take up an option in Meyler’s contract.

The Daily Star have linked Ipswich with having interest in Meyler, who has won 20 Ireland caps but has rarely featured since Nigel Adkins took charge of Hull.

Blues manager Mick McCarthy is also out of contract in the summer but has insisted he is planning for next season, although a move for Meyler seems highly unlikely given the number if midfield players at the club.

Emyr Huws, Tom Adeyemi and Andre Dozzell have barely featured this season due to injury, while Cole Skuse has signed a new deal and there are decisions to make regarding the futures of Teddy Bishop and Luke Hyam.

Youngsters Flynn Downes, currently on loan at Luton, and Tristan Nydam are likely to be involved more next season.
