Ipswich Town loanee Ryan Fraser has signed a new three-year deal with parent club AFC Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old winger – who is at Portman Road for the season and can’t be recalled – played his part in the Cherries’ promotion to the top-flight last season and has made an impressive start to life with the Blues.

Town boss Mick McCarthy told the club’s website: “I asked Eddie (Howe) about Ryan and whether we could sign him permanently after the loan.

“He told me he wasn’t for sale and they’ve offered him a new three year-deal, which shows just how much they value him.

“But listen I’m delighted with Ryan and that we’ve got him here for a year. He’s been top drawer since he arrived and he changed the game for us on Tuesday night.

“He’s a quality player and he’s fitted in here easily. I’m delighted to have him on board.”

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe said: “We see his long-term future with us.

“His loan is about developing him and making him a better player, because I felt if I couldn’t guarantee him a starting spot then I needed to get him games.

“Hopefully he’ll be able to get a consistent run with Ipswich and show everyone just how good he can be.”
