Ipswich Town are understood to be at advanced stages of negotiations to bring Jonny Williams back on loan to the club – for a fourth time – from Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old midfielder has proved a popular figure during his previous spells at Portman Road and is set to join for the entirety of the 2016/17 season.
Williams, who was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and MK Dons last season, shone for Wales at this summer’s European Championships but then picked up the latest in a long line of injuries in pre-season. He is still working his way back to full fitness and a medical could yet scupper the deal.
Town signed striker Leon Best (free agent) and attacking midfielder Tom Lawrence (season-long loan from Leicester) yesterday, and it’s understood they are close to sealing a deal for a striker before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
