Former Ipswich Town favourite David Norris says ‘life-changing’ money and a set-to with Jim Magilton saw him move to the Blues from Plymouth in 2008.
Speaking to Plymouth newspaper, The Herald, Norris, who scored 16 goals in 118 games for Town, discussed the contract he was offered at Portman Road.
He said: “Yeah, it was much bigger. It was five times-plus what I was being offered, and what I was on, at Plymouth.
“It was life-changing money in a way, the contract was good.”
On his spat with Magilton, he added: “I think it first started because we had played against Ipswich. It was one of Jim Magilton’s last games and we had a little bit of a set-to on the pitch.
“I gave him some back and he said that it had stuck in his head that I didn’t just shrink.
“He was trying to get into my head thinking I was just a young player, but I just gave it back and he said it stuck in his head and he liked that.”
