Their opponents today, Birmingham City, are languishing down in 81st position, having won just two opening day fixtures since the 2007-08 season.
Premier League champions Chelsea have the best overall record of the last decade with Manchester City in second and Blackpool, third.
Colchester United are down in 31st place, having won three and drawn six of their last 10 curtain-raisers.
Ipswich’s bitter rivals, Norwich, are way down in 90th place, the Canaries having drawn three and lost five of their last 10.
