Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans’ first video interview to be released at noon today
Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans will speak for the first time today in a video interview with the club.
Evans, who has only given one interview to the independent print media since taking over at Town more than ten years ago, sat down for a wide-ranging video chat filmed by the club, which is set to be released at noon today.
In an excerpt released by the club yesterday afternoon, Evans said is he determined to see a happier Portman Road as Town enter a new era.
“This club is nothing without the fans,” Evans told iFollow Ipswich in his first interview on camera.
“The fans make Ipswich Town what it is and it’s my responsibility - and everyone else at the club - to make sure Ipswich Town is at the heart of the community.
“The disenchantment that has built up over the last two seasons, which is built on years of frustration is something I am really determined to turn around.
“It’s going to be a new era with a new manager. We are going to try something different. It’s going to be calculated but it’s going to be different.

“Let’s hope it works. Let’s hope it bring a greater togetherness for the fans.
“I know from all the players that when the fans are onside and we are all pulling in the same direction, that can be the difference to us getting where we want to be.”
The full, in-depth interview with Marcus will be shown on iFollow Ipswich and Town’s YouTube channel from midday today, with the owner outlining what he’s looking for in his new manager; when that appointment will be made; why entertainment is key; future investment in the squad and why he’s speaking out now.
His interview comes as a new favourite has emerged in the race for the vacant Town manager’s job – Wigan Athletic boss Paul Cook.
Cook has guided the Latics back to the Championship after a year in League One, with his side a point ahead of Blackburn in the race for the title after securing promotion at the weekend.
And he has now passed Danny Cowley – the Lincoln boss who has been favourite for the Town job since Mick McCarthy walked out of the club – as the bookies’ tip for the Blues’ hotseat.
He’s 4/1 favourite with Bet Victor and 11/4 with Sky Bet. Cowley is listed as second favourite with both, at odds of 5/1 and 7/2 respectively.
Cook, 51, has been with Wigan since last year, after two years with Portsmouth, with whom he won the League Two title. He’s also managed Chesterfield, Accrington Stanley, Sligo Rovers and Southport.
He had a long playing career as a central midfielder too, lining up for the likes of Wolves, Burnley, Tranmere, Stockport and Wigan before retiring in 2006.
Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Tony Mowbray, Jack Ross, Mark Warburton and Maurice Steijn are all towards the top of the betting for the Town job as well.
