The teenager became Paul Hurst’s first signing as Ipswich Town manager when he agreed a season-long loan from Chelsea at the end of June and is with his new team-mates at the Pinatar Arena Footballer Center near Murcia.

He turned 19 on Thursday, with the Blues players have been given the afternoon off as part of a week in which they have undertaken three training sessions a day.

Chalobah and his team-mates trained this morning, with the club posting a video of his highlights from the session. The video shows the youngster, who can play in defence and midfield, display plenty of skill, an ability to finish, a goal-line clearance and two good tackles.

The England Under 19 international can’t wait to get started.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he told the club website after signing.

“It’s my first loan and I’m really excited. It’s a great club and I’m ready for the season already.

“It’s important for me, being a young age, that I come here to learn and grow as a player as the year goes on.

“It will be good to get to know the boys in pre-season and Luke Chambers has already brought me into the group so I can’t wait to get going.”
