Christophe Berra was an unused substitute as Scotland secured a vital 1-0 victory over Slovenia in their Group F qualifier against Slovenia, at Hampden Park.
Berra, who won his 35th cap in the Tartan Army’s 1-1 draw with Canada, at Easter Road, last week, watched from the bench as Fulham loan striker Chris Martin scored the only goal of the game on 88 minutes.
Elsewhere, Tommy Smith made a late substitute appearance as New Zealand moved a step closer to World Cup qualification, the All Whites winning 2-0 in Fiji.
New Zealand now just need a point from tomorrow’s return game against Fiji in Wellington to top their group. They will then play the winners of the other Oceania group over two legs, with the winner taking on the fifth placed team in the South America group.
Kevin Bru, meanwhile, skippered Mauritius in their 2-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying defeat to Comoros.
