Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy came off the bench as a 73rd-minute replacement for Everton’s Aidan McGeady in the Republic of Ireland’s 2-1 home defeat to Serbia, in Dublin, last night.
The former Sunderland striker made his return to initernational football after a six-year absence as the visitors cancelled out Shane Long’s opener, courtesy of a James McCarthy own goal and a Filip Djordjevic winner.
Blues team-mate Paul Green was an unused sub for Martin O’Neill’s team.
As for Christophe Berra, the Ipswich and Scotland defender was an unused sub in his side’s 1-0 win in Poland - Celtic’s Scott Brown scoring the only goal of the game in Warsaw.
