Ipswich Town’s first-day opponents, Birmingham City, are trying to complete a loan deal to bring highly-gifted, former Manchester United youngster, Ravel Morrison, to St Andrew’s.

The 24-year-old currently plays for Italian giants Lazio, but has featured just eight times for the Rome-based side since signing for them in 2015.

The former England Under-21 internaional has featured in all but one of the Blues’ warm-up games and has impressed manager Harry Redknapp, who managed Morrison at QPR and wants to add a creative spark to his midfield.

Birmingham have already seen one bid to sign the attacking midfielder turned down but are persevering in their pursuit.
