Tom Lawrence has missed out on the Sky Bet Championship player of the month award - despite a red hot January which saw him bag four goals in five league games.

The honour has instead been awarded to former Town loanee Chris Wood, who scored in every game for Leeds United last month, netting six goals in four matches for the Elland Road outfit.

Lawrence, of course, also scored twice in the FA Cup Third Round draw with lowly Lincoln at home, but went scoreless in the upset 1-0 defeat in the replay, meaning he finished the month with six goals in seven games in all competitions.

And he’s started February on fire too, netting both goals in Town’s 2-2 draw with Reading at Portman Road last Saturday.

The Leicester City loanee has also been nominated for Championship goal of the month for his outstanding effort in the 1-1 draw at Preston.
