Ipswich Town are set to sign towering Forest Green Rovers striker Kieffer Moore – and it’s understood that the club has seven-figure plus bids in for THREE other players.

Moore, 24, came through the youth ranks at hometown club Torquay United and went on to play for Truro City, Dorchester Town, Yeovil and Norwegian club Viking before joining Forest Green last January on a one-year deal.

Also capable of playing centre-back, the 6ft 5in plaer has scored seven goals in 17 starts and 16 substitute appearances for the side currently on the coat-tails of table-topping Lincoln in the National League. Last November he re-joined divisional rivals Torquay on a 28-day loan deal and scored five goals in four appearances.

He hasn’t played in the FA Cup this season, so is not cup-tied, but won’t be eligible to play in Town’s Third Round replay at Lincoln on Tuesday night because he wasn’t registered ahead of the first match last weekend.

The EADT and Ipswich Star understands that Moore, who had a medical this morning and will be watching this afternoon’s Championship game against Blackburn at Portman Road, has been recruited as the replacement for the recently-released Luke Varney.

And it’s believed that Town currently have three other bids for front men currently lodged – all in excess of £1m. Boss Mick McCarthy is understood to still be keen on Preston’s Jordan Hugill and Barnsley’s Marley Watkins.

Meanwhile, Danny Ward – another striker Town are interested in – is not in the Rotherham squad today.
