Ipswich Town skipper Luke Chambers has scotched reports that he could be heading to Championship rivals Huddersfield and insists he is itching to sign a new contract at Portman Road.
The 29-year-old is in the final year of his current deal, but is enjoying his football more than ever following a switch back to his favoured position of centre-back.
A national report linked him with Championship rivals Huddersfield Town over the international break, but the Blues skipper – whose passionate end-of-match fist-pump celebrations in front of the North Stand have made him a fans’ favourite – was quick to knock that down.
“I heard that coming in this week!” He said. “I’m not going anywhere.
“We’re talking (about a new contract), so hopefully something will be agreed in the next however long.
“I don’t want to go anywhere. This is my most enjoyable spell as a professional, my family are settled, I love all the boys, the gaffer’s been brilliant with me from day one and the fans have been fantastic.
“I don’t want to be going anywhere.”

What makes him want to stay the most?
“The prospect of playing for the gaffer, if I’m honest,” he replied. “Every team he’s been involved with he’s had them right at the top end of the league.
“I want to be in the Premier League, I’m getting older now, so I’m hoping my opportunity will be with Ipswich.”
