Ipswich Town have announced they will face League Two side Cambridge United, at The Abbey Stadium, in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 21 (7.45pm ko).

The Blues and the U’s have met twice in summer friendlies in recent years, Michael Chopra scoring twice in both games – a 2-2 draw in 2011 and a 2-0 win in 2012.

Cambridge finished 19th in the fourth tier last season having being promoted from the Conference a year earlier. Richard Money’s side also faced Manchester United in the FA Cup third round, drawing at home before losing a replay at Old Trafford.

Town fans have been allocated the entire South Stand for the match, with tickets priced at £12 adults; £8 concessions; £4 juniors. They will go on sale over the next week or so.

Ipswich yesterday announced that they will begin the pre-season schedule with a friendly against Dublin-based side Shelbourne on July 11.
