In this week’s Ipswich Town nostalgia, we look back to 20 March, 1982, when the Blues beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Portman Road.
John Wark, Steve McCall and Eric Gates scored for the Blues as a crowd of 20,00 plus fans saw Town put three past Aston Villa at Portman Road on March 20, 1982.
Town took the lead when Wark scored his 12th league goal of the 1981-82 season, before McCall doubled Town’s lead in the first half.
The Blues were looking to do the double over Villa, after beating them 1-0 at Villa Park earlier in the season, with Russell Osman scoring the only goal of the game.
