Ipswich Town were supposed to be playing Hull this weekend, but the game has been called off. However, in this week’s Town nostalgia, we take a look back to May 2008, when Ipswich beat Hull 1-0 at Portman Road, as Alan Lee scored within seconds of coming off the bench.

Ipswich finished the 2007-08 campaign with a 1-0 win over Hull City at Portman Road, However, the win wasn’t enough with the Blues finishing the season eighth and failing to reach the play-offs by a point.

Tommy Miller hit the post and Pablo Counago, Alan Quinn and captain Jason De Vos – playing in what turned out to be his last game for the club – all could have scored, before Alan Lee finally did.

The Irish international won the ball in the air and Jon Walters headed back across the face of goal, Lee rose to power a header into the corner of the net with just his second touch after coming on as substitute.

Town felt they should have had a penalty in the 73rd minute when Danny Haynes’ cross struck Dean Marney on the hand inside the area. But the appeals were waved away, although that didn’t matter as the Blues ended the 2007-08 season with all three points.
