Ipswich Town’s home game with Hull City has been postponed.
Club officials met this morning to discuss the chances of Saturday’s game going ahead, following a week of freezing temperatures in the town.
While the pitch has been protected since Monday, the cold weather has left many areas in and around Portman Road dangerous for supporters, with this taken into account in regard to the postponement.
The two clubs have agreed on a provisional date of Tuesday, March 13 to play the game, with the EFL yet to confirm the date.
“The groundstaff and stadium staff have worked around the clock to get the game on but there has been no let up in the freezing conditions and more bad weather is expected,” Town’s club secretary, Stuart Hayton, said.
“The conditions around the stadium are dangerous so we have no option but to postpone the game for safety reasons.”
Supporters who purchased a match ticket for Saturday can use that ticket for the rearranged fixture.
