Ipswich Town’s final game of the season against Middlesbrough has been designated ‘78 Day’ as the club honour the FA Cup-winning side of 40 years ago.
The game is being played on May 6, 40 years to the day since Sir Bobby Robson’s side secured the club’s first FA Cup triumph with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley.
A number of players from the cup-winning side, including Paul Mariner, John Wark, goalscorer Roger Osborne, Mick Mills and Kevin Beattie will be back at Portman Road for the Boro match.
A signing session with the Wembley heroes will take place in the Fan Zone in the morning, while the FA Cup trophy itself will also be at the club on the day.

Supporters will be able to have their photo taken with the trophy in the Fan Zone, with athe club allowing fans to download the pictures from the club’s Facebook account at no cost.
The 1978 players will also be introduced to the crowd on the pitch at half-time, with the FA Cup trophy again on show.
The game kicks off at 12.30pm, with the Fan Zone open from 9am.
