Ipswich Town duo Ben Morris and Andre Dozzell both played key roles in England’s 2-0 win against France in the group stages of the European Under-17s Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan last night.
Striker Morris put the finishing touch to a slick move which saw advanced midfielder Dozzell race onto a clever backheel and square for his club-mate to score.
Dozzell also played his part in the killer second goal, his pass leading to Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson being fouled by keeper Gaëtan Poussin in the box. The French custodian was subsequently sent off and Nelson confidently converted the penalty.
Town keeper Nick Hayes was an unused sub, while Blues left-back/midfielder Tristan Nydam has been named as a standby player for the squad.
England are second in the group after losing their opening match 2-1 to Sweden. They now face Denmark in their final group fixture on Thursday.
