JACK Colback may only be 19 years of age, but both he and experienced Town boss Roy Keane are on a similar wavelength.

Teenager Colback, who played the full 90 minutes for Ipswich in the 1-1 draw against Preston on Saturday, is linking up again with Keane after their short stint together at Sunderland.

And while he is in no doubt Keane will turn things round at Portman Road, the Blues boss is also in no doubt Colback has a bright future and is in his Blues team on merit.

“Roy wants the best and he will turn it round,” Colback said.

“I have no doubt about it. He was like it as a player and when I was told Ipswich were interested in me I had no second thoughts about coming, knowing he was there.

“At Sunderland I trained a bit in the first team and I know what the gaffer expects.”

Colback did a sound enough job in the middle of the park on Saturday, not pulling up any trees, but doing as he was asked and playing solidly throughout.

He's a decent player and one Keane admires.

“I like Jack,” Keane said. “He had a poor pre-season, but he had a run-out at Shrewsbury, a second half at West Brom and a game at Peterborough.

“He's getting stronger, has a good attitude and he's in the team on merit.”

After Saturday's result and with a two-week break ahead because of internationals, Colback admits Town missed a trick against Preston.

“When they went down to 10-men, we should have kicked on, we should have done better,” he said.

“Maybe the break now is at the wrong time, we just want to get that first win, I don't know, then again we have more time on the training field to get things right.”
