IPSWICH Town boss Paul Jewell has today recruited experienced striker Nathan Ellington to add “competition for places” within his squad.

Ellington has signed a two-year contract with Town, and the 29-year-old therefore teams up with fellow new signing Michael Chopra plus existing strikers Connor Wickham, Jason Scotland, Tamas Priskin and Ronan Murray.

Speaking about his new acquisition, Jewell said: “I’ve worked with Nathan before at Wigan and Derby, and I know his strengths.

“He has shown me he can score goals at this level and will add to the competition for places within the squad.”

Ellington will be officially unveiled as Town’s new signing at a Portman press conference this afternoon.
