Jewell dismisses reported �500k bid for Chimbonda

PAUL Jewell revealed that he has spoken to Blackburn Rovers, and that defender Pascal Chimbonda’s name was mentioned during his conversation with his opposite number, Steve Kean.

However, Jewell dismissed reports that Town had put in a �500,000 offer for right-back Chimbonda, who has also been linked with a move QPR.

Jewell revealed at this lunchtime’s press conference: “I have spoken to Steve Kean about a number of things, and Pascal’s name came up.

“But to say that we have made a �500,000 bid for him is complete nonsense.

“I signed him from France, when I was manager of Wigan during our first or second year in the Premiership. I know him well, but it’s all just speculation.

“I’ve made a few enquiries, but I want to try and improve the current squad,” added Jewell.
