PAUL Jewell was dismayed to see his Ipswich Town side kiss goodbye to their winning run, right at the death in a 1-1 draw at Barnsley this afternoon.

Town were heading for a fourth league win on the trot, when substitute Jason Scotland slotted them into an 83rd minute lead, only to be denied by Jacob Mellis’ 93rd minute equaliser.

“It feels like a defeat to lose a goal so late in the game,” rued Jewell.

“I feel so sick. It was not a great game, and the pitch was certainly not conducive to passing.

“But one mistake and we were punished. Marton Fulop made some good saves, but I don’t think they were breathtaking saves. I wouldn’t say that he kept us in the game.

“Jason came on and got his goal, and that’s what I want him in the spotlight for,” added Jewell, who confirmed that there had no further developments in the last 24 hours about Scotland’s possible loan move to Swansea.

Town skipper David Norris limped off after just 15 minutes, and Jewell confirmed: “David has twisted his ankle and his knee, which is a blow for us.

“We will assess the injury in the morning and he will probably have a scan.”
