IPSWICH Town manager Paul Jewell has revealed that he was turned down after enquiring about bringing in two loan players from Premier League clubs last week.
He said: “I tried couple for a couple of players ones that we had targeted.
“But they did not want to come on loan and wanted to stay and fight for their places in the Premier League.
“We have a good squad, but I will continue to look to add to it - to improve it.
“Tommy Smith had a chancece to go out on loan three weeks ago. But the young defender wanted to stay and fight for for his place and I’m happy with that.”
