PAUL Jewell confirmed at this morning’s press conference that he is hoping to sign defender Habib Beye on loan from Aston Villa by the end of this week.

Jewell revealed: “We are trying to bring a couple of players into the squad, as I have been since I’ve been here.

“Habid Beye has been mentioned, and I’ve spoken to Aston Villa and that’s something I’ve been trying to do to improve the squad. But there’s been nothing yet.

“He was in France yesterday. I hope he comes, but I have not heard anthing since yesterday.”

Meanwhile, Jewell’s Town side have this morning been credited with the “performance of the week” for their 6-0 victory at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.

The League Managers’ Association’s panel, which included former Town boss Joe Royle, must have had little difficulty in voting Town for the award after such an impressive showing at the Keepmoat.
