QUEENS Park Rangers manager Jim Magilton has not ruled out doing a bit of summer shopping at Portman Road.

But for the time being the man who was in the Ipswich Town hot seat for three years up to the end of April is not planning any bids for Blues players.

John Gorman, who was Magilton's assistant at Ipswich and has followed him to Loftus Road in the same capacity, said (last night/today): “We have no immediate thoughts about bidding for any Ipswich players.

“But you cannot rule it out.

“We are back training on Wednesday and have what we believe is a really good squad.

“They will get a chance.

“But we will be looking at a couple of additions, and of course we know the Ipswich players.”

Kevin Lisbie's preference to living in Epsom might go against the grain as far as new Town manager Roy Keane is concerned, and the striker could well find QPR a logistical alternative.

This is if Magilton and Gorman saw enough good in Lisbie last season to want him onboard. Lisbie has two years of his contract left with Ipswich.

David Norris, who was always early on Magilton's team sheet when fit, might be another Rangers show interest in, although Keane might take some persuading to part with a player who Town would ask a fee of around 2million for.

This could be effectively reduced if Damien Delaney moves in the other direction from QPR to Town.

Cardiff's interest in the left back appeared not to have be taken on over the weekend.

His fee would be around 700,000 and the deal looked as good as done last midweek. It could now be completed this week.

Ben Thatcher is the only natural left back on Town's books and although he will be fit for the start of the season after a serious knee injury he may run into his own residential problems with Keane as he has maintained his family home in London.

Keane's needs a left sided player, and if he has an 11th hour change of mind on Delaney it will not be long surely before a similar type player joins the Blues staff.

Ipswich return to pre-season training on Thursday and play their first pre-season match against Finn Harps within a week.

Keane would like to have at least two of his intended four summer signings in place by then - so there should be some moves this week.

Liam Trotter will make public his decision by midweek on whether to accept Town's offer of a new contract with his current one running out tomorrow.

Fellow Championship club Scunthorpe are waiting in the wings to offer Trotter what would effectively be a three-year-deal.
