IPSWICH Town manager Jim Magilton has spoken up for his friend and neighbour Geraint Williams, who left Colchester United by mutual consent on Monday.
“George was the man to take Colchester forward,” said Magilton. “He needed support and he didn't get it.
“He deserved at least the benefit of the doubt.
“With a new stadium Colchester - like Arsenal and Southampton before them - will take time to find their feet at their new home.
“George has been a great servant to Colchester and he is an outstanding manager who has been treated badly.
