FORMER Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton is being linked with the vacant job at Scottish Premier League Aberdeen.

The club, who parted company with Jimmy Calderwood earlier this month, held a board meeting yesterday and reports in Scotland suggest that Magilton's name was discussed.

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee is the favourite to take over at Pittodrie with former Don Eric Black, St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes, ex-Hibernian boss John Collins, and Falkirk's John Hughes also among the named contenders.

Magilton is believed to be a front runner for the Queens Park Rangers job with former Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd also said to be in contention.

McGhee has also been linked with the vacant Celtic job with his Motherwell chairman John Boyle insisting no-one has been in touch about taking his manager to Parkhead, or Pittodrie.
