IPSWICH Town manager Jim Magilton today stormed out of a press conference claiming that the local media were distorting the facts about what is going on at Portman Road.

The Blues' boss refused to answer any more questions and as he curtailed the media conference for written journalists he said: “This conference is over.”

The under-pressure Magilton, who has come under heavy criticism this week following the poor display at home to Cardiff last Saturday, was upset by a question relating to the meeting the manager had with eight of his senior players before the defeat at Norwich.

A furious Magilton told the assembled press, including Derek Davis, who wrote the original story: “Someone has told you that and he is a liar.

“They are lying. He is a liar, he is a liar. If it is your opinion, or you say allegedly, then I can live with that but you are printing it as fact.”

Magilton then got up and left before doing interviews with radio and television in the normal Friday morning media round at Portman Road.

Prior to his early exit, Magilton said: “I'm looking forward to the game. It was a poor performance on Saturday and we can't get away from that. We had a poor performance against Norwich and bounced back against Bristol City and have to do that again.

“I know players are upset because they know they didn't play particularly well and lost the game which was disappointing. What we now have to do is regroup get a performance away from home and look forward to game.”

The match kicks off at 3pm with Magilton expecting David Wright to recover from a tight hamstring while Gareth McAuley is fine after his leg injury.

Magilton quashed reports that Alex Bruce is a possible signing for Norwich City when he said: “I have heard nothing at all from Norwich about Alex and like the rest of the players who are out of contract Alex's situation will be reviewed in the New Year.”
