IPSWICH Town manager Jim Magilton today confirmed that his team will be up for the cup when they take on Premier League Portsmouth at Portman Road tomorrow (kick off 3pm).

The Blues' boss says that his team will need no firing up for their FA Cup third round encounter with one of the better sides in the top flight.

Magilton says that he won't make many changes, if any, from the side that played so well to beat Coca-Cola Championship leaders West Brom on Tuesday and will be expecting the confidence gained from that 2-0 victory to help his players tomorrow.

“My dream as a kid was always to climb the Wembley steps and collect the FA Cup,” said Magilton.

“This is still something that makes football so good in this country and I would love to win the trophy.

“Realistically, I know that we have little chance, but we will go into every game thinking that we can win.

“Portsmouth are such a powerful force that they will have to have a bad day for us to make progress.

“And we will have to have a very good day - and a bit of luck.

“But we have shown against West Brom that we cans top good teams playing and we must be ready to capitalise if Pompey do tend to doze off at any stage.”

Skipper Jason De Vos is still suffering from bruised ribs but is expected to play while striker Alan Lee is being nursed through at the moment because of an achilles problem.

Magilton, who confirmed that teenager Liam Trotter will continue in the team, added: “There will not be too many changes and if we can carry on from Tuesday and step up to another level then we can give Portsmouth a game.

“Our supporters can play a vital part and my message to them is 'we need their support'.

“We want them to be very loud and to stay with us and to enjoy the atmosphere of a cup game and if so it can make all the difference.”
